Shanghai and Macau Trip (1)

It took me long time to decide where to go for my 9 days Chinese New Yr holiday. As q poor Taiwanese employee, I don't have any personal leave in the first working yr for a new company. My project will finally officially be kicked off after this holiday. I am going to be crazy busy in the hell. How could I not take this opportunity for a nice trip?

Shanghai is the financial capital; more than 10 millions live and work. Shanghai did not be bombed by world war II because it is concession area which many foreigners lived here . Many Chinese come from all over China because they believe Shanghai is a magic city to make anything possible. Shanghai will make their country dreams come true. The living cost is more expensive than Taipei, even people earn less here. A big and modem city (kind of mix Taipei, Hong Kong, and Tokyo styles), but more Chinese elements inside with European feeling is my first impression of Shanghai.
Nepal is my first choice for my Chinese New Yr holiday, but there is no direct flight, the plane ticket is not that cheap, and the 9 days is definitely not enough for me to do the hiking. As I remembered, many professors talked about how hot China and Shanghai are, and they always ask some feedback from me. Unfortunately, I am a Taiwanese who never have been to China. I also considered to work in Shanghai after MBA. I planned to fly to Shanghai for a job after Olympic game in September 2008. But I get a offer in Taipei in August. So I should take this chance to visit Shanghai, the most modern city in China which is nearby Taipei. I can visit Macau on the way back Taipei. So I could travel to two new cities at the same trip and I can decide if I want to work in Shanghai later on.

This time I didn't travel alone. I traveled with Chinchin, we shared the same dorm room for one yr in my first year major industry design in NCKU. We both decided not to be designers and work for IT companies now. We have many things in common and always have lots women talk. It is great to travel with old good friend.

Also it's my pleasure to meet two new nice gentlemen in Shanghai. One is Alfie; he is Taiwanese living Shanghai for 2 yrs. We didn't actually meet face to face. He is 4 upper class of NCKU ID. So we have some friends in common and when I start to have the idea to work in Shanghai, I ask him tons of question online.

The other friend is Aaron. Few days ago, he dropped message about applying my MBA school in my blog. We chatted in MSN later on and found out he lives in Shanghai and I am going to visit Shanghai few days later. So we meet for a drink and let him ask me questions about schools and I can get some traveling information from a local guy. So I got two perfect guides to help me know Shanghai better. Just when I thought how lucky I was in this trip, I got a serious cold from Shanghai's cold and rainy weather in the second day of the trip.
